Why should chain drive chains be tightened and loosened?

The operation of the chain is the cooperation of many aspects to achieve working kinetic energy. Too much or too little tension will cause it to produce excessive noise. So how do we adjust the tensioning device to achieve reasonable tightness?
The tensioning of the chain drive has obvious effects on improving working reliability and extending service life. However, it should be noted that excessive tension will increase the hinge specific pressure and reduce the chain transmission capacity. Therefore, tensioning is required in the following situations:
1. The chain length will elongate after wear and tear, in order to ensure reasonable sag and smooth loose edge load.
2. When the center distance between the two wheels cannot be adjusted or is difficult to adjust;
3. When the sprocket center distance is too high (A>50P);
4. When arranged vertically;
5. Pulsating load, vibration, impact;
6. The wrap angle of the sprocket with large speed ratio and small sprocket is less than 120°. The chain tension is controlled by the sag amount: ?min is (0.01-0.015)A for vertical arrangement and 0.02A for horizontal arrangement; ?max is 3?min for general transmission and 2?min for precision transmission.

Chain tensioning method:
1. Adjust the sprocket center distance;
2. Use tensioning sprocket for tensioning;
3. Use tensioning rollers for tensioning;
4. Use elastic pressure plate or elastic sprocket for tensioning;
5. Hydraulic tensioning. When tightening the tight edge, it should be tightened on the inside of the tight edge to reduce vibration; when tightening on the loose edge, if the sprocket wrap angle relationship is considered, the tension should be at 4p close to the small sprocket; if the sag is considered to be eliminated , should be tightened at 4p against the large sprocket or at the point where the loose edge sag the most.
